Executive summary

Chainalysis Japan is opening two Deployment Strategist positions in Tokyo - one inside Solutions Architecture, focused on the private sector and financial services, and one inside Services, focused on crypto investigations more broadly. Both sit inside the team that turns Chainalysis's blockchain data into working investigative and compliance capability for its customers.

The trigger is growth. On-chain value received in Japan rose 120% year-on-year in the twelve months to June 2025, the fastest pace of any major APAC market, as banks and fintechs move on stablecoins and tokenised assets. Chainalysis Japan needs domain-credible people on the ground before that demand outpaces its bench.

The two roles draw from different profiles. Solutions Architecture doesn't require a crypto background - banking, compliance, AML, fraud, or consulting experience translates directly, and fluent Japanese is required. Services is open to a wider range of investigative domains - financial crime, national security, cyber, sanctions, tax, or private-sector risk - usually with some hands-on crypto investigations exposure already. This brief sets out who Chainalysis is, why Japan is a priority market right now, and what each role involves.

Market context

Why Japan, why now

Japan's on-chain value received grew faster than any other major APAC market in the year to June 2025, as policy reform opens the door to stablecoins and tokenised assets inside regulated finance. Chainalysis has been building toward this moment in Japan since 2019 - a Tokyo office, distribution through two of the country's largest system integrators, and a dedicated Japanese-language edition of its annual crime report.

2020
Tokyo office, plus Hitachi and SB C&S as resellers
Chainalysis opened Tokyo and Singapore offices, then signed Hitachi (public sector VAR) and SB C&S - a SoftBank group company with 1,000+ resellers - as its first Japanese distribution partners.

2025
Japanese-language Crypto Crime Report, and a regulatory turn
Chainalysis published a dedicated Japanese edition of its annual crime report as Japan's first yen-backed stablecoin issuer is licensed and USDC access expands - the regulatory shift this hiring round is built around.

  • Enable customer teams through hands-on training, walkthroughs, and knowledge transfer
  • Support multiple customers concurrently while maintaining quality and responsiveness
We're looking for candidates who have
  • Conducted or directly supported cryptocurrency investigations, blockchain intelligence work, or financial crime analysis in an operational environment
  • Deep familiarity with blockchain ecosystems (BTC, ETH, stablecoins, DeFi) and how on-chain data is used in investigations, compliance, or intelligence workflows
  • Delivered customer-facing technical solutions in complex, real-world environments
  • Worked directly with customers in law enforcement, national security, intelligence, compliance, financial crime, or security-focused domains
  • Built insights from large or complex datasets and communicated findings to varied audiences, from analysts to executives
Required skills

Technical - Python and SQL for data analysis, transformation, and solution development; experience building notebooks, dashboards, and analytical workflows; solid data modelling and querying fundamentals.

Domain expertise - substantive knowledge of at least one domain: financial and cyber crime investigations, sanctions and compliance, fraud, national security, DeFi/protocol security, tax, or private sector risk.
